Where to run in Dauphin Island (Alabama)

With the exception of sometimes strong wind, the island is a great place to run. In recent years it has suffered a great deal of damage from various hurricanes, with beach erosion and destruction/damage to homes. The island is unique in that it does not have very much commercial development - mostly beach houses and some condos. There is a large bird sanctuary which is heavily wooded with soft trails for running or walking. There is also a bike lane that runs the length of the island, which is 7-8 miles (longer than that, but not open to the public).
