Where to run in Palm Desert (California)

The popular Bump and Grind trail complex is located within the Magnesia Spring State Ecological Reserve in the city of Palm Desert, just outside the city limits of Rancho Mirage. The main trail goes through the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument and it is very popular, with many runners, walkers, hikers and mountain bikers at any time of the day. The trailhead is located behind the Desert Crossing shopping center on Painters Path, right off Highway 111. Starting at the Hopalong Cassidy and Mike Schuler trailhead, follow the path to the Herb Jeffries and to the Bump and Grind trails, then head back along the Mike Schuler trail for a nice three mile trail run immersed in a spectacular environment. Recommended late in the afternoon when the sun is not scorching.
