Eugene

Alton Baker park is Eugene's largest developed park and a jewel for long distance. West Alton Baker Park is developed and the Whilamut Natural Area of East Alton Baker Park is preserved in a wooded environment. Within the 400 acres of the park are Pre's Trail, Cuthbert Amphitheater, Public Gardens, Hays Memorial Tree Garden, the riverbank bike paths and a BMX track as well as numerous unmarked footpaths known to many runners as "the goat trails". The park, named for a co-founder of "The Register Guard" newspaper, is home to many of Eugene's most popular cross country and road races.
