Mumbai

Shivaji Park is the largest park in Mumbai and it is great for jogging or running. It is situated in the most desired residential area of Dadar, with the Arabian Sea in the background, and it is surrounded by a low boundary wall on which one can sit, a popular hangout for young and old Mumbaikars alike to watch cricket matches held in the park. The path around the ground perimeter (approximately 1.3 kilometers) is crowded with people walking, especially in the evenings. Though there are numerous entrances to the park, the most prominent is the one on the east side of the ground intended only for pedestrians. The park is named after the legendary king of the region, Chatrapati Shivaji. The statue of this 17th century warrior is one of the very few statues in which Shivaji is depicted without holding his sword, but simply leading the way with his arm (an example of the pacifist policies of the government of Maharashtra).
