London

Almost three times as large as New York City's Central Park, Richmond Park in London is Britain's largest urban walled park, and the largest of the Royal Parks in London. The Park has changed little over the centuries and, although it is surrounded by human habitation, the varied landscape of hills, woodland gardens and grasslands set among ancient trees abounds in wildlife: as a matter of fact, Richmond Park is famous for its deer population. The wooded areas and hill climbs in the Park offer great opportunities close to Central London for cross-country running and orienteering. The park is open from 7 am in the summer, and 7.30 am in winter, closing at dusk all year round.
