Rockford

The 593-acre Deer Run Preserve, southeast of Rockford, is accessible from River Road south of Cherry Valley. It offers over 9 miles of hiking and equestrian trails in a relatively undeveloped natural areas as well as prairie restoration areas. If you do not mind getting wet, you can traverse an equestrian crossing to access the 653-acre Oak Ridge to the south with another five miles of trails. A short distance on Perryville accesses the Blackhawk Springs forest preserve to the west.
